Empties // June 2015

june-2015-empties-products-i-have-used-up-finished-rottenotter-rotten-otter-blog Mario Badescu Healing & Soothing Mask | £16.50 // I haven't technically finished this face mask but I've had it for a really long time and it was starting to smell a bit different so it's time for it to go in the bin. It worked to soothe my skin when it was feeling irritated but I've got a few other face masks that are similar, but I find work better for my skin.

Weleda Baby Calendula Face Cream | £7.95 // I really enjoyed using this moisturiser from Weleda as it was very gentle on my skin which made it perfect to use when my eczema was flaring up. It seemed like quite a small tube, but it lasted a surprisingly long time. I would buy this again, but it's one I'd use in the autumn and winter as it's quite thick and heavy.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 | £16.50 // If Caroline Hirons tells you to buy a new SPF every year then that is what I'm going to do especially since I do burn very easily. I wasn't a huge fan of this as it made my face feel really greasy and sticky and the reason I chose this particular one is because it is described as a dry touch gel-cream formula. I'm trying one from Bioderma this year which I'm hoping I'll like better.

The Body Shop Frost Cranberry Body Scrub // This was more abrasive than some other TBS body scrubs, but nothing compared to scrubs from S&G or other brands I've tried. This was a limited edition product so it isn't available to buy anymore even if I wanted to, which I don't.

The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Bath Jelly // The bath jellies from The Body Shop are a bubble bath, similarly to Lush's shower jellies, but create bubbles rather than being a soap. I prefer the sugar apple scent to the frosted cranberry, but I really like how it works. I bought a few backups in the Christmas sale so I don't need to worry about being without. I hope TBS release these in the more traditional scents, I'd love to see a passion fruit or satsuma version.

Costes Bath Flakes | £21 // I was a bit disappointed in these bath flakes as they didn't work as well as I thought they would. They weren't cheap either! They're essentially flakes of bubble bath, but they didn't really do anything. The scent is described as coriander seeds, white pepper, laurel, oriental woods, incense, musk and a touch of rose, but I didn't really get any of that. Needless to say, I wouldn't buy them again.

Rituals Hanami Heaven Milky Bath Oil | £13.50 // I loved the fruity sweet scent this has although I hated the packaging. No matter how careful I was when pouring it into my bath, when I next went to use it there would always be a ring of oil in my cabinet where it had been sitting. You also couldn't really pour this into the water, you had to shake the bottle and I never could really gauge how much product I was using per bath. I liked how this made my skin feel, but I don't think I'd buy it again purely for the bottle as there are other bath products I like just as much but have far better packaging.

Lush Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb // Despite this bath bomb looking a bit boring from the outside, it was actually really lovely. It was very moisturising and smelt amazing. I hope they bring it back next year as I'd definitely buy it again.

The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector | £10 // I will always buy products from TBS's hemp range as they're incredibly moisturising and are pretty cheap if you use a discount code. I really liked this, but I find the hand protector more moisturising and I'd probably just use that in the future for my feet as well as my hands.

Nina Ricci Nina L'Elixir | £32 for 30ml or £44 for 50ml // Whenever I wear this perfume, it brings back so many memories from my trip to New York in 2007 as I bought it in duty free on the way there and wore it every day. The notes are red toffee apple, sembac jasmine, red berries, lime, lemon, white cedar, cotton musk and warm amber. I have a mini bottle of the light pink version so I don't have to think about buying a new bottle for a while.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara | £13 // This is an essential makeup item for me and I will forever repurchase it. It doesn't smudge or fade throughout the day and I just love how it makes my bottom lashes look.

L'Oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara | £10.99 // Each side of the wand are different lengths but I only used the longer side as the other creates clumps. I really like the tapered shape of the wand as it fitted my eye shape perfectly and helps to extend my lashes to the outer edge. It holds a curl well and also adds volume and length. The only downside is that it dried out pretty quickly so I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Phyto Phytoprogenium Shampoo | £12.50 // I've been disappointed with the last couple of Phyto shampoos and I wasn't a huge fan of this one either. Phytoprogenium Shampoo is an intelligent wash formulated with a natural, clarifying base that gently cleanses irritated, sensitive scalps providing fast-acting relief. It didn't irritate my scalp, but I didn't find it particularly clarifying. I wouldn't buy this one again.

Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray | £18 // I really liked this hair spray and despite having the smaller size bottle, it actually lasted a really long time and that's with using it pretty much every day. My hair can get horribly frizzy if it's humid or raining and this finishing spray really helped to prevent this especially if I was braiding what used to be my side fringe. I'll probably add another bottle to my next Space NK order.

  1. The hemp range is my favorite too! I am dangerously close to finishing up my foot butter pot which means a repurchase is imminent! Love it! :-)
